Sekeres & Price Show

The ‘Welcome Matt’ addressed Oliver Ekman-Larsson and the difference between playing in Vancouver, compared to Arizona.

Arash Madani of Sportsnet joined Matt and Blake to help set up the start of the home set vs the Yankees, right in the thick of the AL Wild Card race. He talked about Ryu and where he has him slotted in the lineup. He says this is the biggest series in the last 5 years. Says that they are in this mess because of their pitching. They failed to address their bullpen in May and June. Their starting pitching has been very good. He thinks there is some magical pixie dust left for when they most need it. It wasn’t all that long ago that the Jays went into Yankee Stadium and swept them. Arash talked about why he thinks September baseball is better than October baseball. Talked about the attendance for tonight.

Patrick Johnston of Post Media joined the show and started off by addressing the poll question. He talked about which Canuck player is most likely to surprise. Talked about how he wants to play. PJ talked about the pressure mounting on OEL. Patrick addressed GM JB’s comments on Travis Hamonic last night. Says he is probably frustrated, with the player. Has an ounce of sympathy for him because these aren’t the questions he wants to answer right now. It’s not all that complicated but there is a lot that has to happen before Hamonic plays.

Jeff Paterson joined the show in his regular spot and started off by talking about the poll question and which Canuck will prove doubters wrong. Talked about Mike DiPietro and the effort he put forth in what will be his home building in Abbotsford. Talked about Chiasson and what he is going to have to do to make this team. Talked about Hughes and his season last year.
