Sept 8. 2026: The Buium Breakdown; Captain material?

The boys are back! The hockey "season" begins and Matt and Blake are reunited to get you set for the first puck to drop! The guys dive further into the Zeev Buium contract extension and what the gamble means for both club and player. They also ponder the next captain of the Canucks and whether Buium would be a candidate. Also, Manny Malhotra has spoken more about his working relationship with Caleb, and sheds some light on how that might work when the time comes. The guys also kick around the possible waiver wire pickups this fall and the trades that still may need to happen (possibly Quinn Hughes). RinkWide's Jeff Paterson stops by to give his his reaction to the weekend signing of Buium and where he thinks the player may be headed in his career. Jeff talks about the direction of the team as a whole, and the other possible extensions that could match this. Seahawks Insider Gregg Bell joins the show as the defending champs get set to open the season tomorrow! Gregg gets into the difference in optimism between the defence and offence, the brotherhood inside the Hawks room, and the possibility of actually defending the crown. The guys wrap up the show with a playoff preview of the Vancouver Canadians, the Jays' boom and bust cycle down the stretch, and the Whitecaps and Lions both licking wounds after weird ones on the weekend.
