Sept 10, 2026: Canucks aim to surprise; Hughes drama 2.0

Without having played a game, Matt and Blake tackle the concept of Canucks optimism on today's show. Newcomer Paul Cotter has said they will surprise people, so the guys look at all the ways that could happen. They also peer over to Minnesota where the Quinn Hughes contract drama has been resurrected in the state of hockey. They talk about how that may change the perception of the Canucks' trade haul, and where it's ultimately headed for the Wild. Patrick Johnston of Postmedia drops to offer his takes on the matters at hand and adds in a deep dive on the hopeful season ahead for Filip Chytil, who could be a key part of any Canucks surprises. Then, it's Rob Williams of the Daily Hive with news of a brand new hire for them in Canucks coverage, plus, he gets into the futures of Buium, Öhgren and other young Canucks could take the next step. Matt and Blake finish up with a recap of the C's latest playoff win, while the Whitecaps and Seahawks get big W's as well!
