June 11, 2026: Canucks on a budget?! DeBrusk on the move? World Cup begins!
The World Cup begins, but it's the middle of June so or course there's a flood of Canucks news! Matt and Blake tackle the possibility of an artificial salary cap for the rebuilding Canucks, Jake DeBrusk's trade value being downplayed, and Patrick Allvin isn't leaving the region afterall. The guys debate whether this tightening of spending is even an issue for the Canucks, and whether salary cap space can still be weaponized. Postmedia columnist Patrick Johnston makes his weekly visit with the guys and touches on all the Canucks news of the day. He has his view of the Canucks "budget" and how that might intersect with the value of DeBrusk on the open market. PJ also gets into the latest Whitecaps news as new revenue possibilities are explored and new stadium sites begin to emerge. MLS analyst and former World Cup goalkeeper Paul Dolan joins the guys to talk about Canada's opening match and the reality of a home tournament sinking in. Dolie gets into the realistic expectations of the Canadian team, the possible appearances of Bombito and Davies, and the tournament's success as a whole. The guys wrap up with a look back at the crazy comeback in game 4 of the NBA Finals, the Canadian Open may soon be closed, and the entire baseball story as well!
