After an eventful July 1st for the Canucks, Matt and Blake have a ton to percolate on for today's show. The guys debate the next steps for the team and if their could be enough satisfaction with the job already done. The guys look at the opportunities still out there and if there is an overwhelming sense now that the rebuid is being taken seriously by the organization. Postmedia's Patrick Johnston drops by from Canucks prospects camp and evaluates the entire job done by the Canucks yesterday. PJ talks about the Pettersson trade, what's left in the career of Luke Schenn and the value of Oleksiak as a trade chip, plus, he looks at the Cotter signing as an upgrade on the 4th line vets from a year ago. Then it's a raucous chat with former Canadian head coach and 1986 World Cup player, Colin Miller, on Saturday's clash between Canada and Morocco. Colin breaks down the tactical adjustments that are possible for Jesse Marsch's squad, having attended Morocco vs Scotland in person. Colin also addresses a probably plan for Alphonso Davies in the match, and walks down memory lane on where this program has come from, to get to this point. The Sheet's Jeff Marek stops by for a deep dive into the Canucks' newly acquired 2030 first round pick and how they might use it. Jeff amaingly provides actual names that could be drafted, if the Canucks ended up using the pick! Marek lauds the work the Canucks did and looks at the climate around the NHL after a busy July 1st. Then the guys finish up with a further look ahead to Canada and the Thursday schedule at the World Cup. They check in on the health of the BC Lions and run down the baseball story as Nat Bailey gets set for a Max Scherzer start tomorrow!
