Sekeres & Price Show

NHL Insider and Host of Ray and Dregs, Darren Dreger joined Matt and Blake in his regular Wednesday spot. Dregs started off by crediting the guys for introducing him to Tiggy. Talked about the NHL all-star game coming up. Talked about the Canucks moving the likes of Miller and Garland. Miller makes sense to Dregs but Garland does not. So much so that moving Garland is annoying to management in Vancouver. Halak is more likely to be moved. Talked about a busy sellers market at the deadline this year.

Our Canucks reporter, Jeff Paterson joined us in his regular, non-game day spot. Naturally, started talking about tennis. After that, he answered the poll question about who is untouchable for the Canucks. After Hughes and Demko, you have to listen to calls on everyone else. The team isn’t good enough to not pick up the phone. They have to reshape the defence core. EP40 was quiet the last few games of the road trip. He had lots of company. You need him in the company of Marner and Kreider. Be careful of a few good games. Talked about the run they need to go on to get to the playoffs. Talked about Travis Hamonic and his struggles. Talked about Bo Horvat. His numbers are underwhelming. 10 assists at the midway mark. He had 34 a few seasons ago. He can’t escape the criticism. Even Bo would tell you that his numbers are underwhelming.

Rik De Voest, the tournament director for the Odlum Brown Tennis Tournament in Vancouver joined Matt and Blake to talk about some big news for the return of the tournament. Talked about the bigger names that will be coming with the status upgrade. Talked about some of the names that have rolled through the tournament before. These big names have used this tournament as a stepping stone for their ATP/WTA careers. Talked about where they fall into the order of tournaments. It’s not out of the question to see Pospisil here. Talked about the correlation between Canadian tennis players doing well on the big stage and the success of their event. Talked about their relationship with past-players.
