Dec 18, 2025: The new Canucks path, more deals ahead?
Another day past the Hughes trade, another day to wonder how the Canucks ended up here! Matt and Blake look at what the deal has done to the perception of Canucks management and whether this signals that brighter days are ahead. They also take a peek at Minnesota's reaction to the first week of Hughes being there, and the heartbreak it's given his former teammates in Vancouver. The Daily Hive's Rob Williams drops in for his final visit of 2025 and comments on the city's reaction to the Hughes trade. Rob gets into the possible next steps for the team and whether it's possible to get a third 1st round pick in the 2026 draft. He also looks at the Hughes legacy in the city and whether the remaining veterans may want to stay for the rebuild. DFO Insider David Pagnotta joins the guys to talk about the development of the Quinn Hughes trade and whether there were any other teams in the mix in the late stages of the deal. David looks at what it does for both teams, and whether anybody else is currently being shopped by Vancouver, or will be. David also looks at the rest of the NHL's readiness to make deals after watching both teams feel pretty good about the Hughes trade. The guys finish up with a look at the Whitecaps trade of Jayden Nelson, the re-signing of Takaoka, and some other 'Caps rumours. Plus, they preview the big Thursday night showdown of the Seahawks and Rams and look at some BC Lions moves as well!
