Apr 1, 2026: Clinching 32nd on the line vs Avs; Rutherford running rebuild?
As the losses mount, the Canucks merely get set to take on the best team in the league tonight in Denver. Matt and Blake take a look at how ugly it could get considering the Avs' dismantling of Calgary earlier this week. But with a loss clinching 32nd, does anybody care? The guys also look at the decision to sit Evander Kane in the wake of his 1000th game and whether Lankinen can handle all this work, plus, they debate whether Jim Rutherford has fan confidence to manage the rebuild. TSN's Frank Corrado stops by with a brief bit of Italian soccer angst to start, but also gets into the state of the Canucks and their historically bad 2nd periods. Frank talks about whether that should concern Canucks' fans about coaching decisions in the future, and who thinks might be making those decisions in the offseason. Corrado also weighs in on rumours of former Canucks executive Mike Gillis as a possible new president in Toronto?! Matt and Blake finish up with a full recap of a massive day in World Cup soccer news as Italy is out and Canada learns of its first opponent in the June tournament. They also look at how Canada faired in a World Cup tune up match and how an injury there has huge implications for the Whitecaps. The 'Caps get a ton of good injury news however as a slew of star players are on the comeback trail. Plus, some Lions and Canadians news too!
